The Nigerian Community Sunderland CIC (Community Interest Company) is a dynamic and inclusive organization dedicated to fostering unity, support, and cultural exchange among Nigerians living in Sunderland and the wider North East of England. As a registered CIC, we operate with a clear social mission to enhance the lives of our members through various community-driven initiatives, while also contributing positively to the broader society.

 

Our Mission

Our primary mission is to create a vibrant community that celebrates Nigerian culture, supports the well-being of our members, and fosters integration within the local Sunderland community. We aim to provide a supportive environment where members can share experiences, access essential services, and participate in cultural, educational, and social activities.

 

Core Activities

1. Cultural Promotion: We celebrate and promote Nigerian culture through various events, such as cultural festivals, traditional dance performances, and Nigerian cuisine showcases. These events are designed not only to preserve our rich heritage but also to share it with the wider community in Sunderland.
2. Community Support and Advocacy: We offer support services to Nigerians in Sunderland, including assistance with housing, employment, and legal matters. Our advocacy efforts focus on ensuring that the voices of Nigerians are heard in local government and other decision-making bodies.
3. Education and Empowerment: Education is a key focus of our organization.
